There are a lot of presentations that do a great job of describing Gen Y. This presentation By Steve Mellor and Cathy O'Donnell of Harris Interactive is the best I've seen of at explaining why they are the way they are. Definitely worth a read, it provides cultural context for understanding Millennial values and the pressures that shaped them. (My only criticism is that Millennials should have two 'n's').

I usually tend to disagree with any analyses of Millennials, but I like this one. For the most part I think he captures the details that really define us. The page where he says "Gen Y is a term disliked by the generation it refers to" is very insightful. One problem though - where did the "In a word - whatever!" slide come from? It contradicts everything he says about focus, work ethic, etc in the previous slide. But overall, a good presentation - thanks for sharing!
